Clinical Supervision
Clinical Supervision
Jeffrey Kiilsgaard, founder of Humanistic Therapy Northwest, is a Board Licensed Social Worker approved supervisor in Oregon and a Department of Health approved supervisor in Washington state.
My goal is to support you in becoming the best psychotherapist and clinical social worker you can be. Together, we will explore modalities you choose to incorporate into your practice.
My primary focus is on adults (ages 18+) who identify as LGBTQIA2S+ and who hold a range of clinical diagnoses that include psychosis, personality disorder, mood disorders, and thinking disorders.
Supporting you to help others
In clinical supervision, I collaborate with you, find areas of mutual respect, and support your learning.
During supervision, you can expect both a bottom-up, and top-down, approach to engagement and brainstorming in how to best care for your clients—and yourself!
As my supervisee, I will encourage you to find your own stride in therapy. I focus on the following modalities:
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy—Talk therapy for people who experience emotions intensely.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy—Helps people problem solve and explore beliefs, thoughts, and feelings.
Schema—Psychiatric Management for Borderline Personality Disorder—Includes individual and group therapy and family education.
Psychodynamic Therapy—Talk therapy to treat depression and other psychological disorders.
Existential-Humanistic—The person’s social and cultural context and how that affects how the person thinks, feels, and lives.
Feminist—Focuses on challenges resulting from bias, stereotyping, oppression, and discrimination and effects on mental health.
In clinical supervision with me expect to learn more about:
Self-care
Theories and techniques
Career goals
Ethical business and marketing strategies
Best practices for documentation
Client safety
Laws and ethics
Learn More About Clinical Supervision
-
Clinical social work associates (CSWAs).
If you have met the hours and time requirements but have not yet taken the clinical exam, you may qualify for the LCSW Candidate. The LCSW Candidate is not a license to practice. You can’t work independently and must be supervised.
We can walk this path together, and I can assist with paperwork and outreach to the BLSW.
-
One hour session weekly is $100, for 1:1 or group supervision of no more than 6 people.
-
Clinical supervision is an agreement between the supervisor (me), the supervisee (you), and the Oregon or Washington BLSW.
If you are currently working with a mental health agency (or other entity who is offering supervision in the workplace), we will need to coordinate with them.
